Danyal Timmermann is the owner and founder of Boom Pilates.
Her Pilates Story
Pilates started as something deeply personal for Danyal as she began recovering from her son’s cesarian delivery complications back in 2013. Quickly the effectiveness of the method became something she knew she wanted to share back with others, especially within the prenatal/postnatal space. What began as a passion for movement grew into a dream to create a studio where education, quality teaching, energy, music and community could all exist in the same room.
That dream became Boom Pilates in 2019.
Over the years, Danyal’s relationship with Pilates has continued to evolve. Most recently, experiencing a spinal injury, surgery and recovery, Danyal gained an entirely new lens on the method and how it heals. Pilates has always made her stronger but learning how to use the work to rebuild and fully trust movement again reminded her just how powerful this system really is.
Danyal is comprehensively trained and ISP certified in the STOTT Pilates method (+500 hr), and since completing her original certification in 2016, she has continued her education through additional trainings, workshops and mentorship. Danyal is also certified in AIS Stretch, Core Barre, Core Reform, JuvoBoard, and she is a registered Gallup Strengths Coach.
Her teachings were originally rooted in contemporary Pilates for many years, but her recent studies have brought her deeper into the classical Pilates system and the original work of Joseph Pilates. She loves diving in to how the entire system connects, and she believes that being a great teacher also means continuing to be a student of the method.
In 2020, Danyal co-founded The Mixed Method, a +505-hour comprehensive Pilates teacher training program, alongside her STOTT Pilates mentor, Shauna Smith-Yates. Together, they have grown the TMM program to educate and mentor over +100 student participants, and they have certified +30 contemporary Pilates apprentice instructors who now teach in studio communities across the United States.
Her Teaching Style
When you take Danyal’s class, you can expect education, intention, challenge, absolute encouragement and probably a little humor.
She wants her clients and students to understand why they’re doing something, not simply follow along. She believes great teaching gives clients tools they can carry with them from class to class and helps them build a deeper understanding of their own bodies along the way.
Her three words: Educational. Intentional. Energetic.
Her Pilates Philosophy
Danyal believes Pilates should be fun and uplifting, meet you where you are, and continue to grow with you.
Danyal is also a big believer in quality over quantity, stabilizing before mobilizing, and earning progression through control. After experiencing her own injury and recovery, she has an even greater appreciation for patience, precision and the healing power of movement.
Our bodies change. Our seasons change. Our abilities change. The beauty of Pilates is that there is always somewhere to grow in the work. The method never stops teaching us, and every decade gets better within the work.
The Boom Story
Danyal founded Boom Pilates in the original room back in 2019 with six Reformers, six Juvo Boards and a really big dream.
8 years later, Boom has grown into two Boom Rooms, an incredible team of 12 comprehensively trained teachers, multiple Pilates modalities, an in-house teacher training center, and a community that has become the heartbeat of the entire business, and we are just getting started!
What Danyal is proudest of, isn’t simply how much Boom has grown, it’s how it has grown.
Education still matters. Quality still matters. Knowing clients matters. Having so much fun together matters. And creating a space where people genuinely want to come move, learn and connect will always be Boom’s North Star.
Beyond the Boom Room
When Danyal isn’t teaching or studying Pilates, you’ll find her spending time with her family, traveling, at the lake, or cheering on a soccer sideline for her son.
She loves learning, building things, great music, and being around people who bring positive energy and crave to find real purpose in their movement.
